Kamal Garcha

Kamal has a BSc in Cell Biology and an MSc in Zoology from the University of Western Ontario followed by a PhD in Cellular and Physiological Sciences from the University of British Columbia. Kamal’s post-doctoral fellowship was at the University of Toronto and the Ontario Human iPSC facility, where he focused on stem cell biology and modeling human diseases using induced pluripotent stem cells.

 

Kamal directs the Cell Reprogramming & Engineering Platform for the Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine. In this role, he is actively involved in the operations of the CCRM-iPSC facilities that include the evaluation and implementation of the latest technologies for deriving iPSCs. Kamal is responsible for the establishment of standard operating procedures and oversees the timely completion of platform projects. Additionally, he is establishing an iPSC cell bank, which will allow for the banking and distribution of iPSCs. Using his academic background and expertise, Kamal is also responsible for evaluating regenerative medicine IP assets and their possible value to CCRM.
